Newlands Development Company (“NDC”) is a Reno, Nevada-based development company operated by Donald A Pattalock (resume) and Michael Barnes (resume). NDC brings over a half-century of land development experience to its projects and clients. NDC works as the general manager of Heinz Ranch Land Company, LLC, which is developing the 1,848 acre Heinz Ranch as the 5,300 unit StoneGate Master Planned Community. NDC has led the development of the foremost master-planned community in Northern Nevada from raw land acquisition through equity commitments, agency entitlements, government relations, project design, and market positioning to utility infrastructure design and construction.

NDC believes the land characteristics and market information must drive all development projects. NDC works to advance development assets to be well positioned to deliver significant returns when thoroughly planned, designed, and marketed to optimize the land value and ultimately monetize the value created.

Land development projects can and often create political and community storms; NDC employs its deep understanding of the development code, political landscape, and projects social and economic impacts to a community to craft successful strategies to deliver economically successful projects to market. In the highly regulated and bureaucratic world of land development, NDC brings a vast range of experience to our projects utilizing proven strategies to solve the constant challenges facing residential and commercial developments.

NDC seeks to structure relationships with large landowners that combine property and development capital assets with NDC’s decades of land development expertise and working knowledge of the marketplace to deliver successful projects and returns to the partnership.
